Expand your teaching capabilities and take on a bigger role in the dive community with the PADI Assistant Instructor course. As a PADI Assistant Instructor, you’ll be able to teach select PADI Specialty courses, play an important role in beginner diver training, and gain valuable experience working alongside a PADI Instructor.
Build your confidence and teaching skills as you learn to guide new divers through Orientation and Confined Water sessions, assist with Open Water training, and evaluate select skills for PADI Basic Open Water students. You’ll gain hands-on experience, strengthen your dive knowledge, and become familiar with the PADI Teaching System.
The Assistant Instructor course is also the first half of the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC), giving you a strong foundation and real-world teaching experience as you prepare to continue your journey toward becoming a PADI Instructor.
DETAILS & SCHEDULE
A combination of eLearning, virtual and in-person classroom sessions, confined water sessions, and open water dives. Candidates will participate in at least two PADI Basic Open Water Courses, as well as complete their own confined and open water dive requirements.

REQUIREMENTS
PADI Divemaster for 6+ months.
Current Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care training (or qualifying traning) within 24 months.
100+ logged dives.
Medically evaluated and cleared for diving by a physician within 12 months.
18 years old or older.

Digital and in-person classroom sessions.
Pool sessions are held at the Saint Helens, OR Swim Center.
Open water dives are typically held along the Hood Canal, WA area.
