PADI BASIC FREEDIVER

The PADI Basic Open Water course is designed for those who have always wanted to get scuba certified, and experience an entirely new world! This course consists of three sections: an online knowledge development section; a confined water, skills practice section; and the open water checkout dives.  Completion of this course will allow you to rent diving equipment, go diving with a buddy, sign up for boat and resort dives, and gives you the ability to explore the underwater world- worldwide! COURSE SCHEDULE

This certification includes online course work and in-person components.

Classroom coursework is fully online and can be completed from home.

In-person components:

  • Orientation (fittings and shop tour) At Under Water Works

    • July 6,11:30am-1:30pm

    • August 3, 11:30am-1:30pm

    • June 8, 11:30am-1:30pm

    • May 4, 11:30am-1:30pm​

  • Pool sessions (choose one)

    • May 12, Sunday, 12-4

    • May 9, Thursday 7-10pm

    • June 9, Sunday, 12-4

    • June 13, Thursday 7-10pm

    • July 14, Sunday, 12-4

    • July 18, Thursday 7-10pm

    • August 11, Sunday, 12-4

    • August 15, Thursday 7-10pm

  • Open Water Dive​

    • One weekend at the Hood Canal or Des Moines, WA Dive Sites

    • May 18-19

    • June 22-23

    • July 20-21

    • August 24-25

COST

$4000.00 for the full course. This includes PADI Elearning, In-person orientation session, pool, and checkout dives.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be 12 years or older

  • Must be comfortable in water

  • Must be able to continuously swim 200 yards

  • Must be able to tread water for 10 minutes

LOCATION

Pool sessions are held at the Saint Helens, OR Swim Center.  

Open Water Dives are typically held along the Hood Canal, or Des Moines WA Area.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

Students must purchase their own freediving specific mask, snorkel, and fins for the open water weekend.  These pieces of equipment are provided through the pool sessions, so students know what works and fits them, prior to purchasing equipment.  Your instructor will discuss equipment options, and student discounts on purchases during your orientation session.
